Unexpected data? There are several possibilities.
Ensure that the instrument is properly Calibrated (Sphere Calibration).
Remember that the calibration targets must be absolutely clean and dry. If this is not the case then you will actually mis-calibrate the unit.
You may be seeing large delta E*'s. Verify that the instrument and (where applicable) software are both configured for the same illuminant and observer.
Note: It is possible to have the SW and the instrument configured differently. In this case the data on the instrument display will not match the data on the computer. Please verify that you are using the desired illuminant and observer!
Instruments have both an absolute mode and a difference mode.
Ensure that good measurement practices are being followed.
Please step through all of the above
If the problem is resolved you are done!
If the problem persists, consider resetting the instrument.
Note that a reset will destroy any data that is stored in the device. Most customers do not use this feature so only a very few will be affected if this step is taken. If the instrument is reset it will need to be recalibrated and it may also require that some configuration settings will need to be redone.
If this does not resolve your issue please click here to go to "My X-Rite" where you can create a new support case. One of our Technical Support Reps will then contact you for further assistance.
