Exporting X-RiteColor Master Standards into vipPAQ
It is possible to export standards (targets) from the X-RiteColor Master application and (after several intermediate steps) import or use these data in the vipPAQ Import Tool. Steps below detail the process.
Launch X-RiteColor Master.
Ensure that "Project Mode" is not enabled.
From the top control bar, click on "Database" then on "Search".
As required, create a search filter to limit the standards that are needed.
When you have a list of desired standards, click on "Select All".
Click on "Transfer".
Note, sample data is not used by vipPAQ import. You can create a sample filter that prevents any sample data from being transferred by creating a filter where both start and stop dates are, for example: 1/1/1900. This should return zero samples and export the standard data only.
Select a storage location and give your file a name. Finally click on "Save".
Repeat from the 3rd step if you need to filter and transfer additional standards.
Close X-RiteColor Master.
Launch the MIF2CxF conversion utility.
Drag your MIF file or files onto the utility. It will immediately create CxF files in the same folder.
Close MIF2CxF.
Note there is a bug in v1.0 of the conversion utility. For some reason, the files cannot be immediately used by the vipPAQ software. There is a workaround however and it involves yet another piece of software: i1Share.
Launch the i1Share program.
Select "File" then "Open". Locate and then open one of your CxF files. You will see the colors displayed along the bottom of the screen.
Select "File" and then "Save".
Repeat this for each of your CxF files if you have more than one.
Close i1Share.
Your data is now converted into a format that the vipPAQ Import Tool can read.
Launch the vipPAQ Import Tool.
Select a "Printing Press" and then a "Strip No.".
Click on the "CxF Browser" button. Locate one of your converted files. You will see the color names in the browser.
Using the left mouse button click and DRAG any of the colors onto any space in the blank strip (colorbar).
Repeat until the target is complete.
You may modify control limits (warning and alarm) for each patch independently and also specify filters and patch types - solid or halftone - as required.
When finished, click on "File" then "Save As" to save your work.
The completed control strip is immediately available for use with the vipPAQ software.
