There are three aperture options available for the IntelliTrax system. The chart below lists these options along with the minimum colorbar target sizes that the system can recognize. Please be aware that the colorbar HEIGHT is just as important as WIDTH. The IntelliTrax look-ahead sensor utilizes HEIGHT information to locate the bar on the press sheet. If HEIGHT is not properly defined, there is a fair chance that the colorbar will not be recognized by the system.
Aperture | Scan Spot Size (Width X Height) | Minimum Target Size (Width) | Minimum Target Size (Height) |
Small | 2.75 mm X 1.2 mm | 3.0 mm | 2.0 mm |
Medium | 2.75 mm X 2.3 mm | 3.0 mm | 3.2 mm |
DP (Polarized) | 3.2 mm X 3.2 mm | 3.5 mm | 3.5 mm |
Note the increased target WIDTH for polarization. The inclusion of these filters reduces light available to the photo detectors by almost 70%. As such, to achieve accurate and repeatable measurements, it is necessary to increase the horizontal and vertical dimension of the colorbar target.
