There are three different network settings or ‘modes’ the instrument can changed to.
1. Default Static IP Address—172.16.1.100 using a cross over cable
2. User Assigned Static IP Address—XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX using a cross over cable
3. DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)—using a normal network cable
When loading firmware into an instrument that has the network setting set to a user assigned static IP address other than 172.16.XXX.XXX the firmware will fail to load. The firmware loader is preprogrammed to look for the instrument on a DHCP sever addressing it by its instrument name instead of the IP address or the default IP address of 172.16.XXX.XX. When the firmware loader starts programming the station board; part of the process is to reboot the board. When the board is rebooted the firmware loader cannot reconnect to the instrument unless the instrument is connected via DCHP or an IP address of 172.16.XXX.XXX.
When loading firmware, set the IP address of the instrument back to the default setting of 172.16.1.100 using ToolCrib. Once the firmware is done loading, change the IP address back to its previous setting.
