Turning off Access to the Configuration menu
Turning off Access to the Configuration menu in the 500 Series allows for security that users cannot make changes to these options that will affect their measurement data. The 500 series instruments have a security feature that allows managers and/or supervisors to lockout or turn off the configuration menu. Please follow the procedure below to turn the security feature on:- Press the 'x' key. This will bring you back to the beginning of the main men..
- Press the 'Down' arrow key until 'Configuration' is highlighted. Press the 'Enter' key.
- Press the 'Down' arrow key until 'Display' is highlighted. Press the 'Enter' key.
- Press the 'Down' arrow key until 'Security' is highlighted. Press the 'Enter' key.
- Press the 'Down' arrow key until 'On' is highlighted. Press the 'Enter' key.
- Press the 'Previous' key to return to the main menu.

*If you wish that the Configuration menu remain in view. You must turn the Security “OFF”. Otherwise the Configuration menu will be hidden again.
To re-enable the configuration menu proceed as follows:
- Turn the unit off by using the “Battery Saver” button (located on the bottom of the unit near the hinge) and disconnect the A/C adapter.
- While manually depressing the read switch (near aperture), turn the unit back on by using the “Battery Saver” button or plugging the A/C adapter back in.
