Software Warning; "Job is in use by another computer"
The software is careful to close all its data files when the program exits. On occasion however, a system is shutdown accidentally. If this occurs it is possible that the ATD program will refuse to re-start the same job. A warning is displayed: "Job already being used by a different computer". There is a workaround for this - though it's a bit involved.
Close the X-Rite ATD (ATS, Komori PDC-S) program first!
Locate and open the program folder (directory). If you have accepted the 'setup' defaults this folder will be named either "ATD", "ATS", or "PDCS".
In the this folder you will find the program's "INI" file. This file is named "ATD32.ini", "ATS32.ini", or "PDCS.ini" depending on your software version.
Double-click on this file. NotePad should open the file. 'INI' files are readable text. They are broken into labeled sections. Each label looks like "[Words Here]"; where the "[" and "]" open and close the label. Look for the "[Job]" label. On the next line is listed the name of the job folder that is causing the error. Here's the tricky part - - the job folders are named using the Julian date & time of the initial job creation. Write down all of the the information following the word "\DATABASE\".
Close Notepad. If Notepad asks if you wish to save changes, answer NO!
Open the database folder.
Open the folder that matches the information you wrote down above; i.e., 6845737. You are now in the job folder containing the damaged file.
Note: A job is NOT a single file! Rather it is a set of more than 30 related files. Never attempt to move a single file - - if you wish to transport a job; move the entire folder!
Locate and open the "JOB.ini" file (double-click as you did before).
Near the end of the file in a section labeled "[Database]" you will see the line "Master=1".
Change this line to read "Master=0". Nothing else should follow the zero on this line.
Close Notepad. This time when the program asks if you wish to save changes, answer YES!
That's it. When you restart the X-Rite application the job should now open and run correctly.
