With our latest spectrophotometer, the MatchRite iVue, there are a few things that, if not properly used, can cause bad matches.
The 'hinged door' chip clip is similar to the arm on our CF/CFS57U spectrophotometer. When using this clip, it is imperative that you switch the aperture to the 6mm aperture. This is done in ColorDesigner, just after selecting Custom Match. You would select the smaller circle to change the aperture of the unit and then continue with your Custom Match.
There is a black pad supplied with the iVue and should be used at all times. It is vital to quality color matches. The purpose for this is to eliminate light reflectance into the iVue when measuring even slightly translucent paint chip samples or to avoid counter top surfaces that may reflect light into the instrument as well.
If you are measuring paper samples like fandeck chips/cards off the rack, use the metal spring sample holder to ensure that the sample is flat. It is designed, with the springs, to flatten out the sample.
If these three items, as well as ensuring you have good samples, are adhered to, you should have successful matches with the new MatchRite iVue.
