939 will only take a Measurement through the software, why?

The Read Operation setup in the configuation settings will determine the method that is used to take a measurement with the 939 hardware. There are four settings available:

RCI Only – A measurement can only be initiated through an RCI command via the RS-232 port when connected to software.

Switch Only – The instrument Read switch initiates a measurement.

Key Only – The Read key on the instrument must be pressed to initiate a measurement.

Switch and Key – Both the instrument’s read switch and read key are required to initiate a measurement.

If you are trying to take a reading by depressing the instrument to activate the Read Switch or using the Read Key functions and nothing is happening, more than likely your hardware setting is using RCI only command. To change this feature navigate to:
