Creating exceptions for Windows Firewall

The following instruction were created using Windows 7. Instructions for other versions of Windows may be slightly different.

Also, the steps for Firewalls other than Windows may indeed be different.
 

1. From your Windows desktop click "Start"
2. Click "Control Panel"

 

 

1. In the search box, type "Firewall"
2. Click "Allow a program through Windows Firewall"

 

 

In the list of items that appear you should find the following two items (along with many others), but we do not want any duplicates of these two:

• Bonjour Service
• X-Rite Device Services

Please follow the below procedure for each of these two items. The example below shows the process for X-Rite Device Services:

You may find that one or more of these utilities appears in the list more than once. If this is the case we will delete all but one listing for each. To do so:
 

1. Click on one you wish to delete (it should be highlighted in blue)
2. Click "Remove"

• NOTE: Do not delete duplicates of any other items in the list. There may be some reason they exist

 

 

After there is just one copy of "X-Rite Device Manager" and "Bonjour Service" in the list, make sure that all 4 check boxes have checks in them. If any do not simply click any empty boxes to add checks.

 

 

Remember to complete the above steps for both items:

• Bonjour Service
• X-Rite Device Services

• When finished Click "OK"
