Importing ColorShop Palettes into Illustrator 7.0 and 7.0.1

Importing palettes from ColorShop into Illustrator v7.0 and 7.0.1 There is a bug with Illustrator 7.0, where you cannot directly import palettes from ColorShop into Illustrator. Adobe released Illustrator 7.0.1, a patch is available on their web site www.adobe.com which fixes the problem. Below are the steps to directly import ColorShop palettes into Illustrator 7.0.1.
  1. Using ColorShop, create a palette containing your target colors.
  2. Select a Document Profile (other than None) and save the palette.
  3. Launch Illustrator 7.0.1.
  4. Select Color Window.
  5. Select Place from the File menu.
  6. Select the ColorShop palette file that you previously saved.
  7. A ColorShop logo will appear in the Illustrator document.
  8. In the Color Window, select the Swatches option, and then select Add All Used Spot Colors.
  9. Each of the new colors can be added to your Illustrator document.

Note: If you do not select a Document Profile, the palette will not be imported, and none of the color names will appear in the Paint Style window.
