Note: This FAQ applies to version v7.5 and LOWER of X-RiteColor Web Edition. With the release of version v8.0 XCM Web no longer uses Internet Explorer to connect to the server.
X-RiteColor Master Web Edition version 7.5 and lower requires the user to connect via Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. Using a lower version of Internet Explorer or attempting to connect via a Terminal Services Client will cause the software to not respond to the instrument.
If you are using Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, and are having communication problems with your instrument, you should follow these steps:
Open Internet Explorer, and click on "Tools", "Internet Options".
Click on "Settings", then click on "View Objects".
If a "CMClient Class" exists - right-click on it and remove it.
Close Internet Explorer.
Open Windows Explorer and browse to the directory C:\Windows\System32. Find the file "cmclient.dll" and delete it.
Close all programs.
Open Internet Explorer and reconnect to the Web Edition software.
When prompted about downloading software from the server, answer Yes.
You should now be able to take readings with your instrument.
