Script error line 234: Database palette already exists

Walk-through on how to fix Script error line 234:  Database palette already exists commonly found in ColorDesigner version 10.1

Internet Explorer Script Error 'Line 234:  Database palette already exists' is a known problem that can occur when ColorDesigner v10.1 is used.  You will need to locate your ColorDesigner v10.1 software CD for this fix. 

  1. You will need to get to the Windows desktop.  If you have the error up, click Yes and then press the Alt+F4 keys on the keyboard.  It will ask for a password to exit ColorDesigner.  This password is the Housekeeping password.  The default password is 1234 or getmeout.
  2. Click on the Start button.
  3. Click on Control Panel.
  4. Click on Add/Remove Programs.
  5. In the list, you will need to find Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MatchRite).  Click on this entry and then click on the Remove button.  Close all the open windows.
  6. Right-click on the Start button and left-click on Explore.
  7. On the left-hand side of the screen, you are looking for Program Files.  Click on the + sign in front of Program Files.
  8. In the list you are looking for a Microsoft SQL Server folder.  Right-click on this folder.  Left-click on Delete.  Close out of all the open windows.
  9. Put the ColorDesigner v10.1 software CD into the CD drive.  It should automatically run.  If not, click on the Start button, go to My Computer, and then double-click on the CD drive to launch the CD.
  10. When prompted, select Repair and then click Next on every option that comes up.
  11. When the repair is finished, it will prompt to restart the PC.  Select Yes, I want to restart my PC now.  Click on the Finish button.
  12. After the PC has restarted, launch ColorDesigner by double-clicking on the ColorDesigner icon. 
     
If there were customer files on the computer, you will need to restore them.  If there was a backup done, use that.  If there was no back performed, the system does an automatic backup where you can retrieve customer files.  Below are the instructions on how to restore the customer file database: 
 
  1. Click on Housekeeping.
  2. Unlock the Housekeeping features with the password.  The default password is 1234 or getmeout.
  3. Click on Customer Files.
  4. Click on Backup/Restore.
  5. Click on the magnifying glass that is located right above the Restore button.
  6. Double-click on Autobackup Xrite folder.
  7. Double-click on the current year's folder.
  8. Double-click on a file that is close to the time when you had problems, but not the day when the problems started.
  9. This will bring you back to the Backup/Restore screen.  Click on the Restore button.
  10. To make sure that files have been restored, click on Maintenance.
  11. Click on Inspect Customer Files.  This will show you the number of customers and formulas that have been restored.
